SEVERN CONTROLS 'PADDLE' TO VICTORY!!

Staff at Severn Controls supported C.L.I.C. Sargent, (Cancer and Leukaemia in Children) at the Dragon Boat Regatta Charity Day, held on Sunday 17 May 2009 at Gloucester Docks. This is the 7th year that Severn Controls has supported this event.

Severn Controls' team, the Severn Seadogs, were one of fifteen companies who took part in the morning regatta events, racing over a distance of 300 metres.  The race which started near Llanthony Bridge finished where the Main Docks Basin crosses the Victoria basin.

Each race consisted of 3 teams racing against each other, each team raced 3 times: in each heat/race it was the time that counted, not who won the race. The best two times of each race were recorded with the top three teams going through to the final.

Despite the torrential rain and stiff competition, Severn Controls were triumphant when they raised the Winner's  Trophy!!                                                                                        Severn Controls rowing to victory in Dragon Boat No. 2

The mighty Severn Seadogs pulled out all the stops and in the true spirit of the day rowed to victory taking 1st place on the winner's rostrum.

The team were very well supported on the day by family, partners, friends and work colleagues, all of whom were as wet as the rowers by the end of the racing, but nevertheless thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the day!

Total sponsorship raised by the Severn Seadogs for C.L.I.C. Sargent is: £424.50!!!
